UMC – Urban Movie Channel Acquires Exclusive SVOD Rights for Season 2 of OWN’s BLACK LOVE Docuseries and “Motherly Love” Special

“Motherly Love” Special to Make Exclusive Streaming Debut on UMC This Friday 5/11 Following OWN’s 5/8 Broadcast Premiere

LOS ANGELES, CA – Just four days after its initial premiere on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network this past Tuesday, “Motherly Love,” a celebratory Mother’s Day special from the popular BLACK LOVE docuseries, will make its streaming debut exclusively on UMC – Urban Movie Channel, the first premium subscription streaming service created for fans of African American and urban content.

With a focus on celebrating the love and bond that is shared between mothers and their children, the special showcases candid, hilarious, and heartwarming conversations between moms and their families as they reflect on their bonds and the unforgettable moments that have shaped their relationships. Created by Codie Elaine Oliver and Tommy Oliver, the hour-long special features the families of NAACP Image Award-winner Tichina Arnold (Survivor’s Remorse), Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar), NAACP Image Award-winner and author Hill Harper, Erica and Tina Campbell of the Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling gospel duo Mary Mary, and Uber Chief Brand Officer Bozoma Saint John.

Following the completion of its broadcast airing on OWN which will begin this Saturday, May 12, UMC will also add Season 2 of Black Love later this summer as a continuation of its exclusive deal for the streaming rights of Black Love’s first season. The series – which highlights love stories from the Black community – debuted last fall with record premiere ratings to become OWN’s most-watched unscripted series debut in the history of the network. In the second season, featured couples include Emmy Award-winning actor Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and wife Ryan Michelle Bathe, Emmy Award-winning actress Niecy Nash (TNT’s Claws) and husband Jay Tucker, Tina Knowles-Lawson and husband Richard Lawson, NBA All-Star Grant Hill and wife – Grammy-nominated recording artist Tamia, RUN DMC’s Rev. Run and wife Justine Simmons, actors Alano Miller (WGN America’s Underground) and Dewanda Wise (Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It)and more.
