Dynamic Television Scores Global Sales for ‘Sommerdahl Murders’
Acorn TV acquires in US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America
LOS ANGELES, California —May 26, 2020— Dynamic Television announced today a raft of global sales for season one of the hit Scandinavian crime series Sommerdahl Murders. Based on Anna Grue’s bestselling book franchise, the (4 x 90 / 8 x 45) drama series was acquired by Mediawan (France), NPO (Netherlands), OTE (Greece), and Acorn TV (US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America).The series was previously acquired by TV4 Sweden and TV2 Norway. Sommerdahl Murders is a co-production between Dynamic Television, NDF, Sequoia Global Alliance,ZDF and Danish broadcaster TV2. The series premiered on March 1st on TV2 Charlie and was an immediate success with more than 500,000 viewers and a 25% market share. TV2 has picked up the series for a second season expected to premiere in Spring, 2021.
Sommerdahl Murders is an engaging, blue-sky take on the successful Nordic noir genre. Set in Helsingør, a picturesque town on the Danish coastline, each episode revolves around an intriguing, perfidious murder investigation solved by Dan Sommerdahl (Peter Mygind) and his best friend Detective Superintendent Fleming Torp (André Babikian). Grounded and emotionally compelling, the series tells its stories from the heart of society making it relevant and relatable for broad audiences.
AMC Networks’ streaming service Acorn TV features the US, Canadian and Latin American premiere of the series on Monday, June 29 followed by its United Kingdom, Australian and New Zealand premiere on Monday, July 13, 2020.
Sommerdahl Murders is created by Lolita Bellstar (Lulu & Leon, The Legacy) who serves as head writer alongside Lars K. Andersen (The Killing, Countdown Copenhagen). Executive Producers are Janni Helleskov of Sequoia Global Alliance, Matthias Walther from ndF and Jan Bennemann of Dynamic Television.

Having sold over 750,000 books, Anna Grue is a regular on Denmark’s bestseller lists and is one of the most successful crime fiction authors in Scandinavia. Her Dan Sommerdahl crime series have been published throughout Europe, earning particular great success in Germany and France. Conceived as a twelve-part book series, eight books have been published thus far.
